I never thought I would use a crockpot very often. I bought a small one last year use it at least once a week. I love it, but it's been too small for larger recipes like a turkey breast. Any brand or model recommendations? Should I buy one that has a programmable timer? I'd appreciate any ideas. Thanks!

I have a Rival something or other and I like it just fine.

All I have every used are Rival brand. What I want to recommend is a.) to be sure you get one with the removable crock (they don't all come with this and its a pain to clean the ones that don't) and I recommend the ones with the oval crock as oppossed to the long narrow crock.

Enjoy!

Stay away from the ones that have a timer (smart crock or something like that). I have several crocks and that is the only one I hate. It has a 8 hour/10 hour etc feature and the problem is you can't just set it on warm whenever you want. It is beyond stupid. The more basic the better. High/low/warm is good and I second the removable crock.

But it's never bothered me (although it's sure to now that I read this ) because anything I cook in the crock is a long-time cooking deal.

megsly, LOL, that darn thing drives me bonkers. The second time I ever used it I made clam chowder (my first time making the recipe) and set it for 8 hours on low but at 6 hours I could tell it was ready. Well there was not way to turn it off the 8 hour timer to warm. And since then I have relized that I can't just set it on warm to begin with either. Ugh. I hate the thing! I think if I hadn't started out on the wrong foot with it to begin with I would hate the thing so much.
