I'm new to the Grocery Game but I'm reading and studying as much as I can so I can make it work for our family. Unfortunately, we live in a rural area where we have only one list store, but it's Albertsons, but I know from what I've read that if I can only have one store, it's a decent one to have.
I read in Teri's introductory instructions that we should subscribe to multiple Sunday papers if we can, and since we have 12 children (yes, really!), I called our nearest city's circulation office to try to subscribe to 5. I was shocked when they told me they wouldn't let me subscribe to multiple papers! They'll let us get two if my dh and I set up separate accounts, but they can only set up accounts for people over 18, and my oldest is 16. I left a message for a manager to call me back and am hoping that I can find a solution, but in the meantime, this seems incredibly silly! You'd think they'd jump at the chance to sell 4 more subscriptions to one household. Sheesh.
So I guess I'm wondering if any of you have had this odd problem, and if so, what did you do about it?
A big GG welcome to you, worldmom! Glad you've found us.
Yes, with 12 little darlings, you're going to want multiple papers, at least while you're stockpiling. I've never tried to get more than one paper delivered, but I know that some people here on the boards do. I think it was a good idea to have the manager call you back. And I tend to agree with you. Do they NOT want your money?
Maybe someone else will chime in with some advice if they've been through this before!
If you can't get them to budge, have you tried subscribing to a major national paper? NY Times, Chicago Trib, SF Chronicle? Not sure if they do delivery or mail in your area, but it would certainly be better than nothing...

Just a though.
This is probably a dumb question, but when you subscribe to one of those big papers, do you get the inserts?
Hmm that is interesting. One would think they would love the sales. Don't forget to ask friends and family to keep their coupons you don't use for you. You would be amazed how many people only cut one or two per week.

That sounds silly that they wont let you get more than 2 papers I would talk to the manager. I order 2 I could order more at normal price but would rather hit the dollar store when I want more.
This may sound kinda odd put have you asked the store if you can buy the left over papers at a reduced rate? If you go to church would members be willing to give you coupons if they don't use them.
Good luck.

If it's mailed, no, if it's DELIVERED yes. I can get the NYTimes delivered even though I live in Cali...check to see what the policy is in your area. (not a stupid question at all!)
