I hope that the wonderful memories of the last 19 years with Charlie that are flooding back will help you with your grief. It does sound like you did the right thing - I know that didn't make it any easier though.

I had to put my 14 yr old and 16 yr old dogs to sleep withing 3 weeks of each other. I agree with the other poster - that is the hardest thing I have ever done.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have lost 2 beloved pets in the last 3 years. It does get better with time. My thoughts are with you.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your post made me hug and kiss my two white-nosed dogs. Dogs are such wonderful creatures.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. They are so much a part of your family....I thought I would send this your way.

A PET'S TEN COMMANDMENTS
1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful.
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.
3. Place your trust in me.. It is crucial for my well-being.
4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.
5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.

I'm sorry you have to go thru this pain... just know he is more comfortable now.

We're at a crossroads with our 14 yr. old dalmation.... it's going to be a hard decision, I don't really want to make, but know that I need to.

Julie, you're 10 commandments brought tears to my eyes. Our pets mean so much, yet many times, we take them for granted!

Hugs through tears here too. We had to put our sweet Sheltie down 2 months ago and I am still not over it. Clearly.

hugs to you! Had to let my pomeranian go wait for me at the bridge too. but somehow my toes are still warm while I'm typing (she always sat on them!) and my grandson "sees" her at least once a week. I think of her eveery time I put black pants on--will NEVER get rid of those blond hairs! so charlie please say hi to jasmine for me!
